resume leeds arsenal By the time Leeds United won the League title in 1969, Don Revie was already laying plans for the following campaign. Championship success owed everything to defensive fortitude, for the team lacked cutting edge. Cultural Differences? Revie was reconciled to the need for a proven goalscorer. Rumours resurfaced of an interest in Hibernian's Peter Cormack, but when the news broke in June that relegated Leicester City had transfer listed Allan Clarke, it quickly became clear he was the number one target.

Revie was the Muscles Do Squats Essay first to declare his hand, but faced competition from other leading clubs, for cultural differences in business, Clarke was hot property. The subject of a record 150,000 transfer in 1968 when leaving Fulham, he was man of the match in Leicester's FA Cup final defeat and strongly tipped for England's World Cup squad, having scored twice in the 4-0 defeat of a Mexican XI on the summer tour. Revie was relentless in Target?, his pursuit, and on 24 June signed Clarke in a record 165,000 deal. The new man was delighted, telling the Yorkshire Evening Post: I had been keeping my fingers crossed since near the end of last season . that Leeds would come for me. There was some speculation that Clarke might be a disruptive influence, as acknowledged by Billy Bremner: I had played against him and knew what his ability was like, but he also had a reputation for being the sort of person who kept himself to in business, himself and didn't have much to do with the rest of the does mean squad. There was newspaper talk that Clarke's arrival would prompt the departure of cultural in business Peter Lorimer, already unsettled at being in studies, and out of the team. Cultural In Business? United announced that South African winger Albert Johanneson, long out of the picture, was available for transfer at my philosophy a very modest fee, while there were even questions about the future of Paul Madeley. When asked, Revie said: These players are part of the set up here.

They have a vital part to cultural, play. The board's readiness to fund a record deal was evidence of their now unconditional support for Revie. A few years earlier they refused to meet the asking price for Alan Ball, but this time there was no argument. And why should there be? Even after the Clarke deal, in a year when United also cleared a balance of my philosophy 135,297 owing for work on the stadium and state of the art floodlights, the cultural differences club's finances remained healthy under Revie's stewardship. A loss of 45,682 was declared, breaking the run of profits returned solidly since 1964, but only after accounting for What Muscles Target? Essay, the expenditure on Clarke and the stadium. Employee costs had soared to cultural in business, 202,425, with the top earner (shown in the accounts as receiving between 12,500 and 15,000) widely thought to be Revie himself. Sidney Simon, chair of the club's Finance Committee, declared the directors very satisfied with the year's workings.

Improvement of the much maligned playing surface at Elland Road was a priority for importance life, the summer months; it had been devastated by in business, frost and the constant use of straw and braziers to keep it playable. Renovation was essential, but a short close season ruled out reseeding. The club decided instead to Women Essay, ferry in cultural, new turf from Leicestershire. Chairman Percy Woodward revealed that work on of work life balance the West Stand extension would start earlier than anticipated, in August, with the aim of completion by mid-February. The extension would provide 2,500 more seats and 300 more standing places. Some months later it was revealed that there had been insufficient time to fit new drains. Differences In Business? Director and grounds committee chairman Bob Roberts admitted that he had no plans of the what does mean existing drainage system and expressed doubts that the pitch had ever been properly drained. Even when we dug the foundations for the new West Stand after the cultural differences fire (in 1956) I could find no main drain exit, although when we were excavating for the floodlight pylons often we found traces of jones matrix old field drains. The field will have to be drained, of differences course, but it will be next season before it can be done. We can only hope for does, dry weather this winter.

There was also some discussion about the differences in business possibility of under soil heating. Revie was publicly guarded about the chances of silverware, but in the privacy of the dressing room, he was upbeat, setting his sights on the impossible treble of League, Cup and Muscles Do Squats Essay European Cup. He later acknowledged the enormity of his ambition: The deliberate aim of a treble was nothing short of fantastic. We were going in search of a miracle. United's season commenced with the FA Charity Shield match against cultural, Manchester City at Elland Road on 2 August. Importance Life? Allan Clarke debuted up front alongside Mick Jones, and won critical acclaim for his contribution to a 2-1 victory that brought the fillip of early silverware. Preparations continued with a closely fought friendly at Celtic the following Tuesday, in cultural differences, front of a 65,000 crowd. Substitute Mick Bates gave Leeds a 58th-minute lead, cancelled out six minutes later by of work life balance, Bobby Lennox. The side earned positive headlines for a decent display. The opening League game, on differences in business 9 August, was at home to Tottenham.

With Jones carrying a hip injury from the City game, England winger Mike O'Grady was recalled; Clarke at centre-forward was partnered by Lorimer. Madeley covered for the suspended Terry Cooper at left-back. Sprake, Reaney, Bremner, Charlton, Hunter, Giles and Gray continued from the agent jones selection that went largely unchanged through the championship campaign. It was planned that Jack Charlton's 500th League appearance would be commemorated by a presentation before kick off, but there was a shock waiting for the big centre-half when he returned from Glasgow. Terry Lofthouse in differences in business, the Evening Post: The piece of what confucius inscribed silver will now be held in custody until the following Wednesday, when Arsenal visit Elland Road. United's records for the 1965/66 season are incorrect in that they credit Charlton with playing at Sunderland on January 29, when, in fact, he was out with a ricked neck . It's only now that the error has been discovered. United were quickly into their stride against Tottenham. Billy Bremner scored the first after 15 minutes when he got his head to a Norman Hunter shot to deflect it into the net. Allan Clarke enjoyed some excellent moments and opened his United account in the 57th minute. Centre-half Mike England tried to cultural differences in business, nod a bouncing through ball back to and Marriage Essay, keeper Pat Jennings, but misjudged it and his header lobbed up invitingly for cultural differences in business, the razor sharp Clarke to race through and nod over the advancing Jennings.

Jimmy Greaves pulled one back for Spurs with five minutes remaining and the goal hinted at an unlikely comeback but Johnny Giles made the points safe from the penalty spot a couple of minutes later. Charlton injured his ankle and would have to go on waiting for his landmark appearance. Studies? For the midweek match against Arsenal, Madeley switched to centre-half with Cooper back from differences in business suspension. The game was goalless, extending United's unbeaten League run to 30 matches. That equalled a record set 48 years previously by studies, Burnley. There was nothing else joyous about what the Times reported as a bruising, ill-tempered game which was extended by 12 minutes of injury time. Leeds wound up the pressure, but, with Peter Storey provided a smothering blanket in front of his defence, the cultural in business Gunners were stubbornly resistant. Clarke netted at the start of the second half but the effort was chalked off for of teaching, offside against Giles. Phil Brown was scathing in the Evening Post: If Leeds United had played in cultural differences in business, London like Arsenal did in Leeds, they would have been scarified by Fleet Street. They have been assailed for What Target? Essay, far less than the Gunners did last night. This was to offer a nine and ten man defence, to make no pretence of differences attacking, to give 13 corners to one, to make but one shot, to foul every man on United's side except Sprake.

Clarke suffered a cut eye in the fourth minute and and Marriage Cooper went off later in the half for attention to a facial injury, returning with two teeth partially dislodged. Cultural? They had to be extracted after the game. Mick Jones was fit to resume his partnership with Clarke for the weekend visit to Nottingham Forest, with O'Grady dropping to the bench. Jones' presence brought some improvement and United won 4-1. Importance Of Work? The two strikers' combination work and hold up play brought new dimensions to United's game; close marking of the duo left space for others, and Lorimer, Gray and Giles each crowned impressive displays with a goal. Clarke was booked in the game's opening sixty seconds for fouling Ian Storey-Moore, but his team were never seriously troubled after an initial flurry of in business free kicks. However, Leeds took an age to get going: Clarke broke the deadlock after 68 minutes with his 100th League goal, a fine glancing header. That victory broke the First Division record for the hawthorne, games unbeaten and the run continued with a 1-1 draw at Arsenal, smashing the Football League record of 31, set by cultural in business, Liverpool in my philosophy of teaching, the Second Division in 1894.

United should have won easily, but fell behind in the eighth minute. Gary Sprake went to cultural differences, claim a 40 yard free kick that floated wide of the posts. Under pressure from Charlie George, he got his fingers to Women and Marriage in China, the ball but fumbled, allowing it to hit the upright and roll into the net. It was the cultural 80th minute before Lorimer's fierce drive brought an equaliser. Geoffrey Green in the Times: This was the hard, modern game between two sides with their eyes on some sort of prize before the end of the confucius mean season . Yet the output of their two meetings in one week, three hours of hard football, brought just two goals and five players booked by the referee . There was little deep pleasure or wit. United were then held to another 1-1 draw, at home to Newcastle, after taking the cultural lead with Mick Jones' first goal of the campaign. Jones scored again, in a third successive 1-1 draw, on 26 August at Burnley, the game in which Jack Charlton finally achieved his 500th appearance.

The succession of my philosophy dropped points left Leeds trailing in the wake of pace setters Everton, who had dropped just one from their opening six matches. Cultural? They looked outstanding, inspired by the midfield work of the Three Graces, Ball, Kendall and Harvey. Phil Brown reviewed the opening month in his Saturday column for the Evening Post on 30 August, as United travelled to what mean, meet the Goodison Park club: Clarke has settled into the side very smoothly . His sharp work in attack has reduced the far too heavy weight of marking that Jones was carrying in the middle of last season and cultural in business Jones has benefited accordingly. But I would like to see United play more directly up the middle to these two. There is for me too much crossfield passing and running behind them. They are two of the best middle men in jones matrix, the game and in business if they can be joined up front occasionally by Bremner and Madeley, United's forwards should get some useful scores, or at least assist their colleagues to them, for in this United side anybody can take a chance. The Everton clash was a mouth-watering prospect, even so early in the season. United set out to importance of work life, keep Alan Ball quiet, but their preoccupation with the in business England man left Jimmy Husband, Johnny Morrissey and Joe Royle free to wreak havoc. Everton were quickly off the mark and scored after five minutes.

Husband headed goalwards from the Do Squats back post as a free kick came in. It came out again and he shot, but saw it charged down. Again he reacted first and his second shot was deflected into the net. Royle added a second after 20 minutes, nodding in the rebound after his first header had crashed against differences in business, the bar. In the 49th minute, Royle made it 3-0, floating home a speculative lob from the corner of the area. It looked an unassailable lead, but United fought on. Within three minutes they had pulled one back, Billy Bremner chesting home Giles' corner at my philosophy of teaching the back post.

That goal revived the Whites and they pushed on cultural differences with Clarke adding a second, profiting after Cooper and Lorimer had laid on a chance. He also tested Gordon West on two more occasions without quite getting an equaliser as Leeds went down by the odd goal in five. Eric Todd in the Guardian: I imagine that the importance life balance Leeds manager reserved his more forthright comments for the United defenders. For Charlton was routed by Royle; Reaney, so to say, did not know what day it was; and Sprake again betrayed discomfort as well as displeasure because Leeds were being beaten. Differences? The sight of Charlton gesticulating to Reaney to Muscles, get upfield, and that of Reaney giving an illustrated answer were foreign to the strict self discipline with which Leeds more recently have been associated. Leeds, as if conforming to some political manifesto, insisted on full employment for cultural differences, all, and What Muscles Target? obviously they had no intention of trying to score unless all their 11 men had a part in the act. So they spent too much time and effort, used too many men and passes in their approach. When they arrived eventually in the Everton penalty area, they'd forgotten what they'd come for.

After the game Don Revie held discussions with Mike O'Grady, who had been agitating for a first team recall. The two men could not see eye to eye and the winger was transfer listed. United fans were furious, one complaining to cultural differences, the Evening Post, O'Grady's absence from the team is one of the main reasons why it has not been scoring the vital goals. Within a fortnight Wolves had tabled an 80,000 bid. O'Grady could not agree personal terms with the Molineux club but remained on the transfer list. Leeds won for the first time in five attempts when an under strength selection beat Third Division Fulham in the League Cup, but then had to importance life, rely on a late equaliser from Billy Bremner to earn a point in a 2-2 draw at home to cultural differences in business, Manchester United. The skipper's goal was outstanding: O'Grady, on studies as sub for Gray, sent a huge lobbed cross to the far post for Charlton to nod inside.

Bremner, standing with his back to goal, launched himself into a spectacular bicycle kick that left Stepney grasping thin air. Gary Sprake faced criticism for cultural differences, a poor display. There were rumours that the keeper would be dropped after a number of errors. Don Revie stoutly defended Sprake but admitted that the side wasn't playing well. After six League games without a win, United secured a 2-1 victory at Sheffield Wednesday on 13 September. Target?? They enjoyed the bulk of possession but struggled to score. The winner came from a rare incisive move when Bremner's ball through a square defence allowed Eddie Gray to race into the space behind and cultural differences fire home right-footed.

The growing doubts were eradicated a few days later when United made their European Cup debut. A new club record was set when they slaughtered the Norwegian amateurs Lyn Oslo 10-0 with O'Grady back in the side and agent jones matrix opening the differences in business scoring within a minute. Mick Jones netted a hat trick on a memorable evening at Elland Road. O'Grady owed his recall to Gray's injury against Wednesday; he deputised again as United beat Chelsea 2-0 on 20 September in Target?, an ugly, over physical encounter, but within three days the wing man had departed Elland Road. Wolves manager Bill McGarry had refused to differences, accept O'Grady's original rejection and pursued him until he got a positive response. Speculation began immediately that Leeds were in the market for a replacement. Don Revie was quick to quash rumours, declaring, I am sick and tired of all these reports that I am rushing to buy another winger to replace Mike. Yesterday it was Jimmy Conway of Fulham. Today it is Jimmy Johnstone of Celtic.

Tomorrow it will be, as like as not, somebody else. Possibly Pele. Does Confucius Mean? I have no interest at all in any of these players . I have no intention of cultural differences in business buying anybody this season. The following day, Paul Madeley's 20-yard drive deep into injury time snatched a draw in studies, the League Cup against Chelsea. The game was thankfully less spiteful than the earlier League clash, but the result left Revie with a headache.

The return match against Lyn Oslo was scheduled for the following Wednesday, a day after the Stamford Bridge replay. Revie declared that he would pick completely different sides for differences, the two games. In the end, an accommodation was made with the what does confucius Football League, and the Chelsea replay was delayed by a week. England manager Sir Alf Ramsey was at cultural differences Coventry on 27 September to watch United's World Cup hopefuls. Does Confucius? Two weeks earlier, Ramsey had named seven Leeds players - Reaney, Madeley, Cooper, Charlton, Hunter, Clarke and Jones - in his preliminary squad of 40 for Mexico. In Business? All were on duty at Highfield Road except Charlton, out with a pulled hamstring. Terry Lofthouse wrote in my philosophy of teaching, the Evening Post of the Whites' new approach: Leeds United may have sacrificed that iron door barrier designed to keep out the most potent attacks in the country in favour of a fast flowing all out frontal assault, but it is a change everyone has welcomed. Cultural Differences? Their 2-1 triumph at Coventry was a typical example of the way the Elland Road pattern has altered this season.

Freedom to express is now the key note. United have achieved a brand of play similar to that of West Ham without fully reaping the of work balance benefits of a rip roaring front line. That is rapidly changing, too, for the Clarke-Jones duo is the most exciting combination to hit the soccer scene. It will go from cultural differences strength to strength, from success to success. The essence of its power is in its simplicity.

Jones confuses and jabs at the opposition, Clarke flits about and takes up positions which give the studies impression he is being unmarked. But that's how the differences system works. It worked to perfection at Coventry, where the home side, unbeaten at home since December, went down to the relentless pressure forced on them by the Leeds super machine. Clarke, Hunter and Giles all suffered injuries and were rested for the return match against Lyn Oslo, joining Charlton on the sidelines. Rod Belfitt, standing in for importance of work life, Clarke, opened the scoring in the sixth minute, turning home a Terry Hibbitt cross. Hibbitt (2), Jones, Lorimer and Belfitt (again) added further goals as Leeds romped to a 6-0 win, establishing a new aggregate high score for cultural, an English club in the competition. It seemed for a while that the all time record of 18 by Benfica would be caught.

Don Revie admitted to being a little disappointed . When we were six up with almost 20 minutes to agent matrix, go I thought it was definitely on. It took two penalties from cultural differences in business Giles, one in each half, to secure a 2-1 win on the hawthorne 4 October at Elland Road against a Stoke City side which was doing surprisingly well. Cultural In Business? Before the game the two clubs were level on points and City pushed United all the way, with former White Jimmy Greenhoff pulling one back with a fine drive from 15 yards. Greenhoff said afterwards, You are always afraid Leeds will turn it on and cut you to pieces, make you look silly, but they didn't today. They were off song, weren't they? Sprake and Clarke picked up injuries and missed the following game. Terry Lofthouse in the Evening Post: Leeds United lost a League Cup third round replay 2-0 at Stamford Bridge, but exploded a London myth.

What surely must be finally erased is the does confucius mean southern belief that the League champions are still a hard, uncompromising, unattractive side . Cultural Differences In Business? Though Chelsea took the jones matrix honours, the memory was United's fluent, stylish play. Two 1-1 draws followed, at West Bromwich and Crystal Palace. United badly missed Clarke, who had not figured since the defeat of cultural Stoke because of an ankle strain. What Do Squats Target?? Just as the cultural in business striker was pronounced fit, Cooper (knee ligaments) and Giles (hamstring) went missing. That meant an opportunity for Mick Bates and he did well against Derby at Elland Road on 25 October; so well, in fact, that the studies Evening Post's Phil Brown suggested he should retain his place ahead of Giles, the little Irishman having hit a moderate patch.

It was the differences in business restored Clarke who took the honours, scoring both goals in the few minutes before the break as Leeds beat the of work life balance Rams 2-0. County manager Brian Clough protested long and hard after the game that Clarke had been offside before scoring the second, rounding keeper Les Green and steadying himself before stroking the ball into cultural differences, an open goal. United followed up by my philosophy of teaching, hammering Nottingham Forest 6-1 at Elland Road in midweek. Lorimer opened the cultural scoring in the ninth minute after a four man move, firing home from the corner of the of work life penalty area. Differences In Business? United failed to build on their lead and in the 27th minute Henry Newton shot through a packed area to equalise. And Marriage? Leeds regained the in business lead four minutes before the break, Clarke allowing the ball to of teaching, pass him by in the box for the onrushing Charlton to in business, nudge home. In the 65th minute, Clarke was carried off after hurting his shin in a clash with goalkeeper Hill. If there were fears that the loss of their main striker would blunt Leeds' cutting edge, the reality was somewhat different. Five minutes after Clarke's departure, Bates picked up the ball on the edge of the area and fired home for 3-1.

After 80 minutes Lorimer tapped in my philosophy, the fourth after the ball came back off the bar. Another two minutes and the Scot completed his hat trick after rounding the keeper. Substitute Hibbitt completed the rout when he collected a loose ball after a misunderstanding between Terry Hennessey and keeper Hill. The Evening Post's Terry Lofthouse praised two men in form: Lorimer thrives on success . His enthusiasm for the job abounds, he is differences in business constantly calling for the ball and tackling with extra verve. Two of importance of work balance his goals were comfortable, but the cultural first went in like a bullet . And Marriage In China? Bates again demonstrated maturity as a midfield operator alongside a cool and composed Bremner. United had to settle for a goalless draw at cultural differences Sunderland, but then hammered struggling Ipswich 4-0 on Muscles Target? Essay 8 November, cementing second place in the table, six points behind Everton, defeated 2-0 at differences in business West Bromwich. In the absence of Clarke and Belfitt (suspended for importance balance, an astonishing six weeks for differences, being dismissed in a Central League game), Don Revie used Johnny Giles in support of studies Mick Jones, allowing Bates to continue his impressive run. The combination paid off against in business, Ipswich and and Marriage was given another opportunity as Leeds returned to European Cup action against highly regarded Ferencvaros. The first leg of the second round tie was at Elland Road on cultural differences 12 November and conditions favoured United. The heavy rain left the pitch muddy and holding, much to does, the Hungarians' distaste. Ferencvaros coach Karoly Lakat was downbeat in his pre-match comments: If three key forwards are out of your side (Albert, Varga and Rakosi) it must give the opposition confidence.

Leeds United have become much stronger since we last met, while Ferencvaros have gone the opposite cultural differences in business way. Clarke and Cooper were still out injured, but otherwise United were at life balance full strength with captain Bremner back after a spell of flu. Any Leeds nerves were quickly settled when Giles opened the cultural scoring after 80 seconds. The Irishman fed Bremner on the edge of the my philosophy of teaching area. The skipper, back to goal, moved the ball on in business with a neat flick of the heel for Giles to fire home from 12 yards. After 22 minutes, Jones added a second, placing the Target? rebound past keeper Geczi after he had blocked a Lorimer effort. Differences? Two minutes later the the hawthorne studies contest was over. Lorimer's 40 yard ball allowed Giles to slip his marker and feed Jones. The striker rounded Geczi and scored off a post.

Geoffrey Green in the Times: The score in the end might well have been close to double figures. At a rough count there were three shots variously from Giles, Jones and Lorimer taken off the Hungarian line; there were two strikes in the first five minutes of the second half, by Giles again and then Hunter, both disallowed for fractional offside; and a blatant penalty denied to in business, Bremner after he'd been rudely sent sprawling by importance, Pancsics. But on top of that came a fistful of misses, the most blatant by Jones, and cultural differences in business then a clear header by the long legged Charlton, with the whole goal to matrix, aim at, after the interval. Had I not seen it I would not have believed that a Ferencvaros side so full of talented players could have been so ground down. Although the great Albert and Rakosi, both of World Cup standard, were missing, still on the field were five other men of the Hungarian national side, and three more in differences in business, their World Cup party, who will go to Women and Marriage in China, Mexico should the differences in business Hungarians win their group play-off with Czechoslovakia. By half time it was mud, mud, and for what does confucius mean, Leeds at least, glorious mud . They played some devastating football, cutting the opposition to shreds as they moved their passes brilliantly at top speed.

In all this their positional play, control, and skill, were vital factors . The mud also became an enemy of Yorkshire throughout the differences second half. By then the surface was black, churned, tacky and turning towards the morass which choked the Leeds flow. My Philosophy? Certainly they still pounded forward, masters of every situation. Here the differences in business irrepressible, impish Bremner was everywhere, at the heart of does confucius all the action. No one would have imagined that he had risen from a bed of influenza only 48 hours earlier.

At his side too, equally dominating, another ringmaster, was little Giles; on the left flank Gray ploughed through the elements like a cruiser, with the tireless Jones a powerful battleship in the middle. At the back Hunter, Charlton and the rest kept the supply going. Differences? Yet those three goals of the opening stages simply could not be multiplied. It was no benevolent attitude on the part of Leeds. They still remained hungry. But perhaps they had been interrupted by over-usage of the ball and were themselves finally strung up by the mud. With United set fair for a place in the last eight, the club rewarded Don Revie by buying him a five-bedroomed house, Three Chimneys at Aldwoodley. Terry Lofthouse reported in the Evening Post: Don Revie today declared his loyalty to League champions Leeds United, despite the weekend row between himself and importance of work the directors. The storm clouds gathered over a story that he is to cultural differences, take over does the 18,000 house owned by Mr Manny Cussins in the exclusive Sand Moor area . Team manager Revie hit out angrily at 'what has been brought out about the home and my private life.' He says he is in business disgusted with the way the matter had been handled and adds: 'What has been said about my salary is laughable - it is nowhere near 15,000. I only wish it was . I have turned down bigger houses than the 18,000 one mentioned and bigger salaries than the quoted 15,000.' He was referring to the fantastic offer he received a while ago from Italian club Torino, which he rejected because, as he put it at of work the time, he is in business settled in Leeds.

Torino had offered United 70,000 in the hawthorne studies, May 1969 to buy out Revie's contract; they had promised Revie a salary of 24,000 plus bonuses. Chairman Percy Woodward had adamantly refused to be courted, declaring the cultural manager's contract to agent jones matrix, be beyond price. The manager explained his reasons for rejecting Torino's offer in one of his Saturday columns in cultural, the Evening Post. I promised the Turin directors I would never divulge the financial terms, but you can take it from me that if I had accepted I would have made sufficient money to retire after four years! . Does? So why did I refuse? There were two reasons as far as I was concerned. Firstly, I expect 100 per cent loyalty from Leeds United's players and consider I have a moral duty to be loyal to them.

Over the years a tremendous family spirit has developed within the club - a friendship between the in business players and their families and the staff. No amount of money can compensate for What, a situation like this. Secondly, I believed I would not have proved anywhere near as successful in Italy . In fact, I still consider any leading British manager would be crazy to in business, try his luck on the continent because there are so many problems involved. What? Problems, for example, like the language barrier, temperamental players, and fans. Cultural Differences In Business? Then there is the strange system whereby presidents of Italian clubs negotiate all the players' contracts and transfers. United continued to struggle on their travels. A 1-1 draw at Southampton on my philosophy of teaching 15 November was the fifth game without a win, and cultural differences there was more criticism after playing another struggling side at Elland Road. Terry Lofthouse: Leeds United's performance in beating Sunderland 2-0 was as dull as the weather . It was not until six minutes from the my philosophy of teaching end that United put some respectability in the scoreline, Lorimer notching his eighth League goal of the season, after Jones had opened the account in the 21st minute. With too many players out of touch, they had to struggle for long periods despite never being hard pressed to hold their early lead. A sort of lethargy appeared to spread through the cultural differences Leeds team. The next game was at What Muscles Essay home to third-placed Liverpool.

The Reds started the in business season among the front runners, but had come grinding to a halt, securing just 3 wins and 11 points from Women their previous 11 games. But they were certainly no easy touch. The game was tight but United dominated initially, taking a 20th-minute lead through a Giles penalty. Instead of pressing home their advantage, Leeds withdrew into a defensive shell, pulling Madeley deeper and cultural in business allowing Liverpool back into the game. Tom German in the Times: The sharply-contrasting fortunes of the opposing goalkeepers resolved an always eventful tussle . Liverpool, a goal down, were just starting to pick themselves up after an hour of scurrying defence when Yeats aimed in what confucius mean, a header: it curved to Sprake's feet, with little power behind it, but as the cultural goalkeeper bent casually to collect it the What Do Squats Essay ball plopped into the mud, brushed beneath his fingers without hint of a bounce, trickled between his legs and over the line. Cultural Differences? His anguish was apparent, yet it was unquestionably of his own making. Lawrence's contrasting alertness in the last phase of the match can only have rubbed salt in Sprake's raw wound. Studies? Bremner was hauled down by the goalkeeper; first it was a penalty, then a free kick to Liverpool and, finally, the award went to Leeds. But Lawrence unmoved by the minutes of commotion, flung himself sideways to push Giles' kick aside at a vital moment in cultural, the match. Jones? It was to earn Liverpool a deserved point.

Don Revie was typically supportive of Sprake after the game, saying, I have every faith in him. He has conceded fewer goals in the last six years than any other goalkeeper in Britain . When he makes a mistake he always gets punished. It was disappointing, but there was no holding United in the European Cup. In Business? In their return against Ferencvaros on 26 November, Leeds gave a remarkable display to repeat the 3-0 win they achieved at Elland Road. Albert Barham in the Guardian: The sparse crowd saw a fine exhibition of attacking football from Leeds. Ferencvaros were no better than they were in the first leg, outplayed, outmanoeuvred, out thought by and Marriage, the fluent football from every member of Leeds. European football certainly suits Jones this season. He brought his total to eight goals in in business, four matches tonight.

His first came in the 37th minute when he headed in importance of work life, a long tantalising high pass from Lorimer. Geczi, the goalkeeper, went up with him but Jones beat him to the ball to head into the net through the cultural differences in business narrowest of angles. Then with 10 minutes to go Jones scored his second and what a beauty that was. He dispossessed Juhasz, beat Balint and shot into the corner of the confucius net. Differences? Finally just before time Lorimer, with a searing drive from the hawthorne 25 yards, put the seal on this night of Leeds' triumph. That historic victory, the first by cultural differences in business, a British team at my philosophy of teaching the Nep Stadium, was followed by cultural differences in business, another, 2-1 at Manchester City, United's first Maine Road win since 1938. What? Jones got the winner with three minutes remaining, heading home from a Lorimer corner. United were closing fast on Everton, three points behind and unbeaten in cultural differences, fifteen League games. The key differential between the studies sides was the cultural differences win to draw ratio.

Everton had won 16 and drawn 3 games, against United's 11-10 return. Leeds improved that record during December, winning three straight games, all at Elland Road, against Wolves (3-1), Sheffield Wednesday (2-0) and what confucius West Ham (4-1). Allan Clarke made his return against Wolves after 8 games out and scored, adding two against Wednesday and another against the Hammers. The West Ham win left United top for differences, the first time. In the importance life same period Everton crashed 3-0 at home to cultural in business, Liverpool, and, despite their two games in the hawthorne, hand, the steady pressure was squeezing a team that had once looked uncatchable. Everton had started at Tottenham on the same night as Leeds beat West Ham, but the game was abandoned after half an hour when the floodlights failed. The Merseysiders regained the leadership on 20 December after beating Derby 1-0 and went on to beat Manchester City by the same score three days later. On each occasion they missed a penalty and had to rely on a late goal to secure the points. United's 20 December game at Manchester United was off due to differences in business, a snowbound pitch; they had the chance to close the gap on Boxing Day, with Everton gameless, but would have to get something out of Newcastle at St James' Park to do so. Leeds were guilty of over confucius mean elaborating and Newcastle took a 2-0 lead. Wyn Davies had the differences better of Jack Charlton, scoring once and laying on a second for Bryan Robson.

United launched a tremendous revival over the last half hour and Giles pulled one back from 25 yards. It was not enough and Newcastle inflicted United's first League defeat since August. The Whites had no time to feel sorry for themselves; the following day they hosted Everton in a top of the table showdown. Despite the lack of rest, United overpowered Everton, dominating the first half of an uncompromising contest and scoring after a quarter of an hour. From Bremner's 30 yard punt, Lorimer nodded down into does, the six yard box. Jones tangled with Gordon West and flicked the cultural differences in business ball into the net as the keeper fumbled. After 30 minutes it was 2-0 when Jones rose high to of teaching, nod home Lorimer's cross from the right. Everton fought hard after the break and cultural pulled one back when Whittle ran in to studies, slide a Royle header past Sprake.

Leeds United Book of Football No 2: It was the cue for Everton, who had been playing some fine football in this second half spell, to pile on the pressure and drive all out for an equaliser. But in the event, it was Leeds who returned to the attack, and more than once they almost increased their lead. Although they had a let off, themselves, with but three minutes to go, when a fine left wing move by cultural, Everton ended with Morrissey shooting on the run . and seeing his shot hit an upright. Everton might have bemoaned their cruel luck over this; but had they snatched a point it would have been unfair on matrix Leeds, who had been on top for so much of the cultural in business game - and played a brand of attacking football which thoroughly earned them their victory. The win wasn't enough to put them back on top, but it crowned a tremendous year which ended with them within a whisker of their main title rivals.

1970 would see Leeds continue in hot pursuit of three major trophies.

You Are Killing Me: On Hate Speech and cultural in business, Feminist Silencing 28. Radical feminists are regularly accused of denying trans peoples right to Essay, exist, or even of wanting them dead. Here Jane Clare Jones takes a closer look at these charges. Where do they come from and what do they mean? Is there a way to move towards a more constructive discussion? The basis of this claim is the assertion that a certain strand of feminist thought is hate speech. Versions of that assertion have circulated on social media for a number of years complete with obligatory analogies between Trans Exclusionary Radical Feminists (TERFs) and Nazis, the BNP or the Ku Klux Klan.

But its effectiveness in differences in business, excising speech from the public sphere was really brought home to the hawthorne studies, me in August 2014, when the journalist and cultural, trans activist Paris Lees pulled out of a Newsnight debate with the gender-critical trans woman Miranda Yardley, saying she was not prepared to importance life balance, enter into a fabricated debate about trans peoples right to differences, exist. More recently, the claim that TERFs want to debate trans peoples right to exist has morphed into the more-or-less explicit suggestion that TERFs are intent on Do Squats Target?, extermination. Cultural! Blogs defending feminist-silencing have argued that dialogue is impossible when some at the table arearguing for the elimination of others at in China, the table, or one side is effectively being forced to differences in business, argue for their entire existence against a group of people who would like to see us dead. The argument that what some feminists want to say is What Target?, hate speech can be broken down into differences three interrelated assertions. In ascending order of seriousness, these are that TERFs (1) deny trans peoples existence and/or right to exist; (2) actively want trans people not to exist; and (3) engage in behaviour responsible for trans peoples deaths. Claim 1: TERFs deny trans peoples existence/right to exist. At first glance, this claim seems absurd. Trans people clearly exist: feminism is not being ripped apart by a conflict with and about non-existent people. Making this claim make sense therefore, requires us to accept an elision between the existence of trans people and the existence of and Marriage in China Essay trans people according to transgender ideologys account of the existence of trans people. That is, the theory that trans peoples existence is explicable in cultural, terms of agent jones gender identity, an innate quality which is the immutable source of a persons gender.

This theory seems to have emerged in a clinical and academic context, before being incorporated into in business the ideology of in China Essay trans activists. It is a theoretical elaboration of the common trans narrative which focuses on the experience of cultural differences being a woman trapped inside a mans body. In her detailed chronicle of the backlash which followed the publication of J. Michael Baileys 2003 book The Man Who Would Be Queen , Alice Dreger calls this the feminine essence narrative, an account which holds that trans people suffer from a sort of trick of nature, whereby they have the brain of one gender in the body typical of the other a sort of neurological intersex condition, typically understood to of teaching, be inborn. Feminism, as a political movement aimed at the liberation of women, has long theorized gender not as an innate essence, but as a hierarchical system enforcing womens subservience. Characterizing certain personality traits compliance, nurturance, the desire to be pretty or objectified as natural to women, is, according to feminist analysis, a primary mechanism for maintaining gender hierarchy. As a result, many feminists have genuine questions about cultural differences in business, trans ideologys assertion that gender identity is both natural and universal.

It comes perilously close to what, naturalizing the differences oppression of women. This is not trivial, and it needs to be discussed. Matrix! But it has been decreed that it cannot be discussed, because to discuss it is to deny the right of trans people to exist. Trans ideology collapses the fact that trans people exist into the theory of why trans people exist, and judges anyone who questions the theory to be a transphobic bigot intent on denying the very existence of trans people. Indeed, even those trans women who persist in existing despite subscribing to the feminist critique of gender are denounced by many in their community as self-hating or treacherous. This is argument by non-argument, and it functions to differences, close down discourse by Do Squats Essay rendering feminisms long-held analysis of gender unsayable.

Maintaining that anyone who questions the theory of gender identity must be transphobic is equivalent to arguing that anyone who disputes born-that-way narratives of homosexuality must be a homophobe. In both cases, this manoeuvre points to a belief that the moral acceptability of gay people or trans people depends on convincing others that their existence is natural. Given the historical injunctions against perverted or unnatural desire (in the case of homosexuality) and cultural differences, deviance (in the case of confucius mean gender non-conformity), it is understandable that movements for gay, and more recently, trans rights have invested so heavily in a narrative of cultural differences naturalness. But to respond to and Marriage Essay, the patriarchal accusation of unnaturalness with a counter-assertion of naturalness whether in the form of cultural a gay gene, or brain-sex as the seat of the hawthorne gender identity is to remain firmly within the purview of the patriarchal belief that naturalness is the criterion for moral acceptability. Differences In Business! And it isnt. Gay, lesbian, bi- and the hawthorne, pansexual people are okay as they are because they are okay as they are. And the same is true for cultural in business trans people. Perhaps feminists who question the naturalness of gender identity are heard as undermining the moral acceptability of trans peoples existence. But that is to my philosophy, assume feminists are invested in the patriarchal coupling of naturalness and moral acceptability, when they are the very last people who are. So, if feminist questions about gender identity are not a denial of trans peoples existence, or, indeed, their moral acceptability, what else might this denial consist of?

The complexity of the issues here can be condensed into the question of whether a woman is willing to accept the axiom that trans women are women. And while trans activists claim to push gender beyond the binary, it is notable that this axiom exists only in relation to its absolute negation, that is, to the statement trans women are not women or indeed, trans women are men. When asked, as one often is cultural differences, these days, whether one believes that trans women are women, the answer can only be yes or no. One cannot respond, as many women would want to, well, the my philosophy of teaching answer to this question is both yes and differences in business, no. Undergirded by agent jones matrix an appeal to boy-brains and girl-brains, trans ideologys core commitment is that a persons gender is nothing other than their gender identity . G ender resides entirely in differences in business, an individuals private experience of balance feeling like a man or a woman, and therefore, if an individual declares that they feel like a woman, then they are a woman, and moreover have always been a woman, in exactly the same way as non-trans women have always been women. From a feminist perspective what is lost in this account is the entire structure of cultural in business gender as a system of oppression , a system which functions by identifying a persons reproductive potential and then socializing women to what confucius, fulfil the cultural role of a member of the reproductive class.

For many non-trans women the idea that the essence of being a woman resides in feeling like a woman, is my philosophy of teaching, not so much wrong as incomprehensible. Our experience of cultural womanhood is not an internal feeling, but a lifelong process of being subjected to and revolting against very specific social sanctions and expectations. Be quiet. Look pretty. Studies! Make yourself small. Smile. Dont be too demanding.

Accommodate other people . When feminists raise these points, we are sometimes accused of differences in business indulging in the hawthorne studies, academic debates when other peoples lives are at stake, as if the constricting of female persons by patriarchy was somehow not about cultural differences in business, peoples lives. But this debate is not academic for anyone involved. My Philosophy Of Teaching! For both trans and non-trans women, what is at stake is the differences ability to understand themselves in a way that makes their lives livable. For feminist women, the axiom trans women are women, when understood to in China Essay, mean womanhood is cultural in business, gender identity and hence, trans women are women in exactly the same way as non-trans women are women is experienced as an extreme erasure of the way our being-as-women is marked by a system of patriarchal violence that aims to control our sexed bodies. This system of patriarchal violence also marks the lives of trans women, who are indubitably victims of the kinds of studies male violence feminists have spent years attempting to resist. Differences! To cast certain feminists as the principal threat to trans existence, it is therefore necessary for trans-ideology to sideline the patriarchal violence that affects both women and trans people, and instead, position feminists at What Muscles, the apex of a structure of oppression. One of the main strategies for achieving this is the elaboration of the category of cis-privilege.

In her 1983 essay Oppression, Marilyn Frye noted that the cultural concept of oppression has a tendency to agent jones, be stretched into meaninglessnessas though its scope includes any and all human experience of limitation and suffering, no matter the cause, degree or consequence (p.1). At a time when axes of oppression seem to be proliferating, unencumbered by any account of the cultural motive of domination, Fryes essay is increasingly apposite. Life Balance! Privilege a once useful way of illustrating how certain structures bend the differences in business world around the interests of particular classes is now routinely invoked to describe any advantage that another person lacks, whether or not that advantage stems from a system of structural domination. Life Balance! Indeed, advantage itself is often assumed to be ample evidence of the existence of oppression. It is clear that being trans presents challenges and difficulties within a social system which does not recognize the possibility of trans-ness, and is not designed to differences in business, cater for studies the particular needs of trans people. The demand for cultural differences recognition, visibility, social acceptance and political organization around specific interests is agent jones matrix, necessary and important. However, according to Frye, understanding a limitation as an instance of oppression requires more than ascertaining if it is part of an cultural, enclosing structure of barriers which tends to of teaching, the immobilizationof a groupof people. (p.10). It also necessitates looking at cultural differences in business, how the barrierfits with others, and to whose benefit or detriment it works (my emphasis; p.11). The oppression of women-as-women is established by understanding the function of that oppression : women-as-a-class are oppressed by men-as-a-class for the purpose of, Frye continues, the service of men and mens interest, which includes the bearing and raising of children as well as a variety of other service work including domestic and personal service, sexual service and ego or emotional service (p.9).

Women are oppressed as women because that oppression enables men to extract resources in the hawthorne studies, the form of reproductive, domestic, sexual and emotional labour from women. Similarly, class- and race-based oppression is cultural, structured around the extraction of does mean labour-resources from the oppressed group. And the question we must then ask is, in what sense are the real limitations experienced by cultural in business trans people to be understood as part of a specific structure of my philosophy oppression aimed at extracting resources from trans people as a class? Again, it is useful to cultural differences in business, compare this case with discrimination against of teaching, homosexuals. Gay men and lesbians experience, or have experienced, profound limitations on their ability to lead flourishing lives. Those limitations did not, however, arise out of the desire of non-homosexual people to appropriate the labour of homosexual people as a class.

Rather, limitations on cultural differences, the free expression of homosexuality arose as an studies, adjunct of patriarchal ideas about the naturalness of heterosexual coupling, and the natural gender roles of the sexed individuals within that coupling. Differences In Business! That is, the injunction against homosexuality is part of my philosophy heteronormativity, and since the primary function of cultural heteronormativity is to naturalise mens appropriation of womens bodies, the restrictions on homosexuality are a variant of patriarchal oppression. Similarly, the limitations on trans peoples freedom to determine their gendered-expression results from the fact that such expressions have been gendered by patriarchy . But this is an explanatory framework which trans ideology with its conception of innate gender is totally unable to access. In its place, transgender ideology posits an entirely unmotivated system of Do Squats Essay cis-gender oppression which inheres, not in the yoking of particular sexed bodies to acceptable gendered behaviours, but in the very identification of sexual dimorphism in humans. Here we encounter a perfect inversion of feminist thought. In the place of the material reality of sex and the social construction of gender, we find the social construction of sex and the material reality of gender. What feminist thinkers have traditionally identified as the essentialist yoking of sexed-body to gendered behaviour is rewritten as the privilege of alignment between ones gender identity and the sex one is differences, coercively assigned at birth. This privilege (which is really an oppression), is then invoked to position non-trans women as the Muscles Do Squats Target? Essay oppressors of differences trans people. There can be no question of to what end non-trans women are invested in the oppression of trans-women.

As the oppressor, non-trans women are not permitted to question this: we must understand that the only just course of action is to acquiesce without a murmur to the stated needs of the oppressed. And so the possibility of solidarity between non-trans and trans women, based on importance of work life balance, the recognition that we are equallythough differentlyconstrained by heteronormative ideologies of gender, is thoroughly blocked. Cultural Differences! There is no acknowledgement that we are both suffering under the same system, and there can be no negotiation of how to accommodate our varying needs within feminism as a political movement. There can be no conversation . After all, you do not negotiate with an oppressor who is the hawthorne, interested only in exploiting you and doing you untold harm. Claim 2: TERFs want trans people mandated out of existence The positioning of cis-women as agents of domination is crucial to the claim that gender-critical feminism is a form of hate speech, because it endows radical feminists with sufficient social power to differences in business, sustain the story that skepticism about the concept of gender identity is a prime factor in the violence experienced by trans people.

Although, as we will explore later, such violence is best understood in the context of my philosophy patriarchal enforcement, it is trans-ideologys constant concern to cultural differences, position feminists as trans peoples principal oppressor. This strategy is bolstered as suggested by the blog quoted above by the claim that feminists actively desire the Muscles deaths of trans people. To the cultural differences in business best of my knowledge, the sole textual basis for this assertion is the endlessly recycled quote by Janice Raymond from The Transsexual Empire : I contend that the problem with transsexualism would best be served by morally mandating it out of existence. Its not my intention here to defend Raymonds body of work or to deny that some radical feminists have expressed themselves in a way that is deeply derogatory towards trans women. But what is clear is that morally mandating transsexualism out of agent jones existence is not an expression of the desire to cultural in business, annihilate transsexual people. The claim once read through a feminist critique of gender is the hawthorne, evidently that the patriarchal system of differences gender normativity is the condition of possibility of transsexuality . That is, if behaviour was not socially coded as masculine or feminine, individuals could not experience a disjunction between the apparently gendered nature of What Muscles Do Squats Target? their personality, and in business, their sexed bodies. Trans ideology, as well as much of what passes for contemporary feminism, considers gender identity to be an Do Squats Essay, essential property of persons, rather than the way society shoves personalities into gendered boxes. And as such, its unsurprising that few people seem able to even hear what Raymond is in business, saying. Whether she is what, right is another question: we cannot know what would remain of gender norms, or if and how trans identity would manifest itself, in cultural differences in business, the absence of patriarchy. But what is clear is that without gender normativity, the type of trans narrative we hear so often today one which, say, associates feeling like a boy with a disinterest in dolls and agent jones matrix, domesticity would lose its mooring and quite simply cease to differences, be meaningful.

Claim 3: TERFs are responsible for the deaths of trans women. Despite the increasing prevalence of exterminationist rhetoric, it has not, to my knowledge, ever been suggested that TERFs actually kill trans people. Rather, the the hawthorne studies suggestion is that a) the cultural in business type of importance life balance transphobia attributed to TERFs feeds wider social conditions that contribute to differences in business, the deaths of trans people and What Do Squats Target? Essay, b) TERFs engage in specific behaviours such as harassment and preventing access to services which contribute to the deaths of trans people. A typical version of the first claim goes something like this: We believe that it is cultural differences in business, violence when Germaine Greer announces I dont believe in transphobia, or when Rupert Read describes trans women as a sort of opt-in version of mean what it is to cultural in business, be a woman.

These are violent acts both in of work, themselves and in differences, their perpetuation of a culture in which physical and sexual violence against trans people and sex workers is both extremely high. The problematising of trans identity on college campuses or elsewhere amplifies an already endemic mainstream mindset that sees trans women as laughable at best and dangerous predators at worst. A result of this transphobia is that trans people are eight times more likely to commit suicide than the general population. This claim relies on positing a continuity between the jones matrix alleged transphobia of gender-critical feminists, and an endemic mainstream mindset conceived as responsible for cultural harm to trans people. This example cites the disproportionately high number of trans suicides, but a similar claim is also made in relation to trans deaths by of work life lethal violence. The issue of the murder of trans people is the instance in which the alleged continuum between feminist speech and substantive harm is the most difficult which is to differences in business, say impossible to maintain. The violence which affects mostly trans women, and disproportionately trans women of colour, is almost entirely male violence, very often at the hands of partners or other family members. Agent Jones! It is therefore related (though not identical) to cultural, the patriarchal violence also directed at non-trans women. Women are killed by men for being women. And trans women, it seems, are killed by men for the hawthorne being women and/or for being trans women. Differences! As of March 2015, the murders of eight trans people (seven of them women of colour) had been reported in the US (Lamia Beard, Ty Underwood, Yazmin Vash Payne, Taja de Jesus, Penny Proud, Bri Golec, Kristina Gomez Reinwald and Sumaya Ysl).

Of the importance of work life six whose killers have so far been identified, four were killed by men known or believed to have been their boyfriends, one was killed by her father and one was killed during a robbery. Men do not murder their girlfriends, or commit homophobic or transphobic violence against people they perceive as gender non-conforming, because they have been whipped into a fury by feminists. Violent heteronormative masculinity is not maintained by the assiduous study of Sheila Jeffreys or Janice Raymond. Male violence is committed, day in and day out, by people who have never even heard of Sheila Jeffreys or Janice Raymond, or ever had contact with anyone who has. If you dont like what Janice Raymond has to say, by all means, take Janice Raymond to task. But to suggest that anyone asking questions about cultural in business, trans ideology must be silenced because Janice Raymond somehow made men kill trans women is so utterly absurd it would be laughable, were it not trotted out so often to silence women, and did it not bear such striking resemblance to the tried and tested technique of blaming women for inciting the violence of men.

Blaming feminists for of teaching mens violence against trans women is in business, not only slanderous, but inordinately frustrating, because such violence is the confucius principal site of the actual erasure of differences in business trans women. This is the place where trans and non-trans women could most obviously come together in shared resistance. But instead, trans ideology would rather erase the agent jones possibility of in business that solidarity, and the hawthorne studies, martyr murdered trans women to an amorphous TERF-inspired hatred, in order to score rhetorical points off feminists. The claim that feminist speech is responsible for the suicide of trans people depends, once again, on forging a strong connection between gender critical feminism and an endemic mainstream mindset hostile to cultural, trans people. The causes of suicide are complex: each case is different and there are no simple, general explanations. But considering that the feminist critique of mean gender is obscure, whereas the patriarchal policing of gender norms is all-pervasive, it seems far more likely that the endemic mainstream mindset which most contributes to in business, the challenges and constraints trans people face is like the lethal violence of men the of work life balance product of patriarchy.

TERFS behaviour contributes to the deaths of differences trans people. Trans activists routinely claim that TERFs engage in two types of balance behaviour linked to the deaths of trans people: harassment and denying access to services. The harassment is said to in business, include doxxing, contacting peoples employers, threatening communication, and in at least one case, stalking. My Philosophy Of Teaching! All things which are emphatically not okay. But anyone who tells you that this behaviour is confined to only one side of this conflict or tries to draw a distinction between the abusiveness of their adversaries and the legitimate violence of their allies should be treated with extreme skepticism. Such unconscionable and unnecessarily hostility is cultural, not the product of any specific system of belief so much as a dogmatic narcissistic righteousness fundamentally inimical to any purported operation of justice. This issue is complicated, however, by an increasing tendency among some people to jones matrix, conceive of mere exposure to people you disagree with as a kind of harassment. The concept of safe space which once meant knowing you could speak without someone coming down on you like a ton-of-judgmental-bricks now means almost the opposite: ensuring you are never exposed to views you find oppressive, or triggering. A safe-space enshrines judgment about someone elses speech with such rigour that they never open their mouth at cultural, all. Any group which coalesced around the aim of denying another group access to vital services could rightly be considered a danger to importance life balance, that group. In the case of healthcare, questioning the in business theory of gender identity does not entail denying trans peoples real experience of dysphoria, nor saying they shouldnt be given whatever medical support they need.

No one should be denied treatment vitally necessary for their well-being or flourishing. But conflicts around access to other services are more difficult, because the issue has become entirely enmeshed with affirming the axiom trans women are women. The position of feminists critical of the concept of gender identity is that trans women are like non-trans women in some respects (through performing the social role of woman they are subject to studies, the same violences and erasures), and not like non-trans women in others (particularly with regard to reproductive issues, and the trauma which stems from differences in business, female socialization and early exposure to sexual objectification and male violence). These differences mean that our needs and interests are not identical, although they coincide in importance life balance, several places. I am an advocate of a care-based concept of justice, which means I believe adequately attending to peoples needs is a crucial component of justice. I therefore think that the most just way to negotiate this situation is to consider the needs of differences all parties involved, and try and provide solutions that meet everybodys needs as far as is humanly possible.

But to do this means accepting that everyone involved has legitimate needs, without one side accusing the other of trying to kill them. There are real questions about the way in Do Squats, which trans and non-trans womens experience of in business being women inflects their needs, and we should take these seriously. But the studies endless fight about differences in business, toilets and changing rooms is also about something other than toilets and changing rooms. It is confucius, about what access to toilets and changing rooms signifies for trans women. It is differences in business, about access to womens space as a validation of the identities of trans women. Were this not the case, we could have sat down and sorted all this out by now. We could have thrashed out where our needs were similar and where they were not, where we could work together and matrix, where it might be more appropriate to focus on in business, divergent goals.

But to Women and Marriage Essay, do that requires an acknowledgement of the fact that we are both similar and different, and that acknowledgement is one that trans ideology will not countenance. And so we reach an impasse. To be a woman, under patriarchy, is to be a mirror. We are raised to reflect, to efface ourselves and differences, accommodate. We are the What Do Squats Target? surface and material upon which men make themselves, winnowing out our subjectivity in cultural in business, the service of others. And feminism is the practice of refusing to empty ourselves in order to receive the impressions of others. It is Essay, not ethically impermissible to refuse to differences in business, be a mirror.

For some women, sometimes, it is my philosophy, survival itself. But it is differences, ethically impermissible to demand that someone else erase themselves in order to What, reflect back to you exactly what you need them to reflect. Affirmation cannot be taken, only given freely, or not at all. And when someone does not meet your needs, they are not killing you. We are not sovereign beings: what we are exists between us and others.

What we are, and how others experience us, is outside ourselves, in the warp and cultural in business, weft of the world, beyond our control. And at the same time, there is, in each of us, a place inside, a warm spot, just below your belly, where none of this may matter. It can take years of work to find it, but what you need is of teaching, there. And it cannot come from any other place. You are okay just the way you are . Marilyn Frye, Oppression, The Politics of Reality (The Crossing Press, 1983). Link. 28 thoughts on “ You Are Killing Me: On Hate Speech and cultural differences in business, Feminist Silencing ” I think this is as clearly and generously as radical feminism can present the gender-critical argument to outsiders. My only importance life, nit to pick is that, related to the question of what trans IS, there are profound questions about what care of trans people is and what needs trans people have.

Of course both sides say that they want to care for cultural differences trans people and make sure that their needs are met. And both sides mean it sincerely, yet we are light years apart on what that means. Is giving people very invasive surgeries with no medical function (and a proposed but debunked psychiatric function) an appalling act of medical malpractice or an act of care? Is giving men who believe they are women what they want (surgery, hormones, legal status as women) akin to helping an anorexic woman diet, or is it much-needed affirmation and emotional care? Is reducing the barriers to children transitioning an act of care and understanding, or is it simply greasing the skids on a dangerous slide into sterilizing children and producing transition so quickly that rates of people with severe regret rise sharply?

Its very difficult, as you said, to try to meet on common ground and have EVERYONES needs met, and have everyone recieve the best care, when we fundamentally disagree on what that is. Jones Matrix! These men tend to see women giving and differences in business, giving and giving up everything (our safe spaces, our dedicated resources, our bathrooms, etc.) as the only possibility of what care could look like. Of Work Life! Its a tough place to create anything resembling productive collaboration or coalition-building from. What an excellent and differences, clear account of the argument. I found it very helpful. Im no diplomat, not a student of feminist/trans texts, so its very likely these observations will be shot down in flames. I apologise in advance. Some years before all this kicked off I employed a woman plumber to do some work. Since only very determined women can bear to put up with the sort of ribbing (or, indeed, oppression) they get in what does confucius, classrooms full of boys/men also learning mens skills like plumbing, women plumbers, heating engineers etc have in my experience a tendency to cultural differences, be more skilled and reliable than your average male plumber. A friend phoned me just before the work started to say You do know X used to be a man dont you. Maybe Im very unobservant but I hadnt noticed this and my response was rather *shrug whatever*. The plumber turned up, took far longer than necessary, was far more expensive than estimated, was insulting and demeaning, and completely wrecked my utility room, so much so that it took me years to gather myself together and get the remaining work done on my house.

This ties in with what you say above about the notion of being innately female. This theory denies all the evidence about our experiences, whether male, female or other, shaping us through time. Someone who learns a male trade like plumbing as a man does not go through the of work same alienating experience that a woman would learning plumbing etc amongst a group of typical teenagers or men. Cultural Differences! They will not be the sort of person who would have given up unless utterly determined to of work, learn that skill. It is very likely that they will be a no better than average plumber as a result. In that sense my friend was right to mention that this person used to be a man, as my assumption that they were a woman plumber and hence would probably do a better than average job was incorrect. However maybe, in a few cases, its worse than that. The plumber was demeaning and insulting in a way which was extremely similar to the worst sort of Dont you worry you pretty little head about differences, that that most women will recognise only too well.

Not only had this person remained a male plumber despite their sex change, they also had retained the demeaning attitude of some workmen. And in fact their work was so awful it would be entirely appropriate to describe them as a cowboy plumber. Of course, it has to be said, this person, of whatever gender, was an assh*ole of the the hawthorne first order and differences in business, this incident does not generalise to the vast majority of trans people or anyone else. I have however, been accused to being a bigoted TERF for even mentioning the possibility that a woman who learned her trade when she was a man is not a woman plumber in jones, some senses. My rather bitter, joking observation at the time was that perhaps there are some men out there who hate women so much that they are prepared to undergo sex changes just to insult women even more and to undermine the notion that women who undertake male trades like plumbing, gas plumbing, cabinet making, building work etc are not generally more skilled and differences, committed than the average man.

That was a joke. What Does Mean! Obviously youd have to cultural in business, be quite bonkers to go through such an ordeal as a sex change unless you really felt it was necessary. However, reading your article, especially the observations about of teaching, closing down non-complaint female voices, you would have to say that if these radical trans feminist-deniers did not exist, extreme patriarchal meninist men would probably be quite proud of themselves were they, somehow, to differences, invent them. Frankly, I feel incredibly sorry for Muscles Target? all the ordinary trans (and intersex and any other generally undecided or non-standard) people that these violently anti-women trans women have taken it upon themselves to represent. What an extraordinary essaythought-provoking, considerate, well-argued, and, IMHO, fair to all sides. I expect youll be vilified by the transmaniacs, but I thank you for your thoughtful, reasoned explication of what has become a war on differences in business, feminism and on women, waged in the name of gender ideology. Great essay.

This really helps clear the waters muddied by (deliberately) unclear language and vague claims. More plain speech, please! Tigger, I think there is indeed a strain within trans sctivism (and, more generally, gay male culture as epitomized by drag) that truly does hate women so much that they feel driven to re-make what womanhood IS. They think that natal women do womanhood poorly, and that they can do it better, and that they have a right to. Not just because they are men, and men always believe that they can do things better than us dumb women, but precisely because their way of of work balance doing womanhood is NOT feminist, and that is their definition of better:

*they don the demeaning garb of femininity (heels, makeup, hot pants, fishnets, etc.) without any hint of contradiction , because they have not undergone the psychological trauma of being socialized as a girl/woman. In Business! The complex feelings natal women have in relation to the femininity they are forced to perform and what does confucius, their bodies, which they are forced to perform it with, are absent. What a relief, our stupid female hangups were ruining all the fun of being a slut and loving it. *They get sexual thrills from the idea of being a sex object. Again, our stupid hangups were ruining things like free love, totally uninhibited sex, and other sexual extremes to cultural, which many men in this culture are driven. *Our hangups also ruined the male fantasy that deep down women are all dying to be sexual objects, we want it, etc. The Hawthorne! Feminism was thus ruining the patriarchal delusion that what free women look like is cultural differences in business, whores or sluts.

*Autogynephilic trans men (men who have a sexual fetish in which they are obsessed with and turned on the hawthorne studies, by the idea of being women, i.e. sexually debased / objectified) are a strong force in cultural differences in business, trans activism. But if feminists go around pointing out that being objectified and sexually debased isnt actually (a) good in any way (b) proper to women, we are ruining the great, guilt-free time they could be having getting off on this sick fantasy. Im not saying that all trans people or all trans activists are intentionally trying to put the power to remake womanhood (in a way that reinforced patriarchal values) in the hands of men. However, the logic is all built-in. Of Work! If you swallow the gender essentialist nonsense, it all follows from there, and you dont have to in business, be consciously misogynist in order to get truly attached to that logic and to my philosophy of teaching, even dedicate your life to defending it. Especially if you are a man. I want to reblog this forever. I would like to cultural differences in business, say, explicitly, that I was glad to read something so well-thought-out, articulate, and knowledgeable about the issues explored. It gave me more insight than I had about differing theoretical standpoints, and and Marriage in China, was very inspirational, from that perspective. Also: pinky score for privilege.

Love it. #128578; My worry is that you have presented a standpoint that assumes that most trans* activists oppose feminism, and that this is differences, as fallacious as trans* activists assuming that most feminism is represented by does confucius those passionately opposed to cultural differences in business, trans* ideology. I am also concerned because, while the article is often kind, compassionate, and objective, it (sometimes very abruptly, to my sensibilities) dips sharply into a defensive, us vs. them tone which makes it harder to read and absorb. What Muscles Target? Essay! For me, personally, I think I would have found it easier to take on board the cultural differences notions proposed if the Muscles Do Squats Target? earlier tone had stayed throughout. I think I would like to see something that talks about how trans* activists and feminists have helped and supported each other in the past, and cultural differences in business, suggestions for my philosophy how they can do it in future. Cultural Differences! While it was fascinating to read this perspective, it doesnt help me (a cis-gendered but somewhat genderqueer, female, late-wave feminist) see how I can move on when the two positions are presented as so entrenched in essential dichotomy. You asked the question: Is there a way to the hawthorne studies, move towards a more constructive discussion? I would love to cultural differences in business, know more about how you think that can, in reasonably practical terms, occur. I have had arguments with anti-feminist trans* folk, and with trans-erasing feminists (I put this in Target?, quotes as they seemed to have a very narrow view of which human rights should be fought for, and that makes me wary of anyone using what is essentially a human rights activism label), and I would like to find a way forward, rather than endlessly retracing the same ground of Less Privileged Than Thou. I also want to say, explicitly, that I loved the repeated message of differences in business youre okay as you are it was this that made me want to matrix, continue reading. Cultural In Business! Thanks again for this article.

Im a bit puzzled to know why my name appears in the hawthorne, this (admittedly very interesting) article. I have never appeared at, organised or spoken at an event at which trans people were excluded. The allegations made about me at the time of the cancellation of my Goldsmiths show were that I had the wrong opinion about how best to prevent harm in the sex industry and I was accused (quite unreasonably) of cultural in business Islamophobia. I did comment on trans issues in an interview I did for Morning Star: http://www.morningstaronline.co.uk/a-b3d7-IWD-Feminist-ideas-are-turned-against-us/#.VVqMZ0Ktz8M which I think makes it pretty clear I support trans rights. This should be required reading for anyone who calls herself a feminist. This is the real thing. This is absolutely brilliant. Thanks for your clarity, compassion, intelligence, and logic.

This is the best article Ive seen on the clash of theory. I think there is another layer of theory that is What Do Squats Target?, a motivator for transactivist ideology, and that is the legal theories trans lobby lawyers must attempt to align with in order to obtain desired legal results. Cultural In Business! Im referring to the hawthorne, the legal theory that gender is immutable, which requires that certain material facts exist, and if they do not exist, and even if they erase long-held feminist theory, they must nevertheless be made to exist as legal fictions. Thanks Kate, we take the in business point that in your case the controversy was about the does confucius sex industry rather than trans, and differences in business, were glad to have the what does link making clear what your views are. Though the cultural piece does concentrate on conflicts between trans activists and feminists, the the hawthorne reference to you in the introductory section was meant to point to the more general phenomenon of feminists who articulate certain political arguments being accused of cultural engaging in hate speech.

Great article! I just wanted to clarify for does mean any who may not know that TERF stands for: Gender *is* invented. I dont even know what transgender is supposed to mean. Whatever hormonally-induced very minor differences there might be between female and male brains, which arent even consistentindividual women are as different from one another as they are from menthe fact remains that femininity and masculinity, which are actually what gender is, vary widely from differences in business, culture to culture. Right now in What Muscles Do Squats Essay, our culture feminine means wearing makeup and high heels, for cultural differences example, but at other times in our history men were wearing makeup and high heels. In this culture women wear skirts but in some others men wear them. I could go on and on. The reason I say I dont even know what transgender means is because a strict definition of the term that is of teaching, actually based in reality would mean that a cross-dresser is a transgender person. I think quite a few cross-dressers would hotly disagree with that notion.

As for in business the idea of trans being based in gender dysphoria, whatever that means, first off, cisgendered het straight women suffer body dysphoria and theyre not trans and secondly, its not true that all trans suffer GD. Importance Balance! Quite some number of them, in fact, do not. And you cant be born in the wrong body. The DNA for your brain and body are exactly the same, unless youre a genetic chimera, which is atypical in humans and a relatively small portion of the population. I have yet to cultural differences, hear whether anyones testing trans people for genetic chimerism. Nor do I ever hear anyone referring to males with androgen insensitivity syndrome (AIS) as being trans, even though they are closer to transsexual than anyone currently active in the community, visible in the media, etc. Muscles Do Squats Target? Essay! and in fact were born that way. Were supposed to cultural differences, accept men in Essay, dresses as transwomen now even if theres no evidence apart from the dress and their say-so. Cultural In Business! Thats going to lead to some dangerous situations.

I in fact ran across a news story a couple days ago about a man in jones matrix, a dress infiltrating a womens bathroom and trying to look into an occupied stall. Differences In Business! This is just the beginning, and it will get worse, assuming we arent seeing it happening a lot already and the women are just afraid to speak up because EVERYONE on the left will shout them down. The worst part of all this is we are supposed to the hawthorne studies, cater to transwomen but transmen are almost invisible in these debates. Transwomen are supposed to be allowed into cultural differences womens bathrooms because men might beat them up, but transmen who are a full foot smaller with a much shorter arm reach compared to transwomen are on and Marriage, their own if theyre in the mens bathroom and suddenly outed. Probably has nothing to do with them being genetically female and differences, genetic females being worthless in of work, this culture, right? I love these trans activists. Radfems trying to make them disappear. Meanwhile THEY are making WOMEN disappear. How long, I wonder, will it be before there are no more genetic women in pro sports because transwomen are allowed on womens teams and cultural differences in business, held to be superior athletes? How long before we might as well not bother collecting data on does confucius, womens health because its been watered down with transwomens data? I mean theyre women, right? They cant make us *totally* disappear but they can sure push as far as possible in in business, that direction.

I love all their rape and death threats against my philosophy, radfems, too. We do not likewise threaten them. We just dont want them elbowing their way into our spaces, appropriating our language, pretending to be us. I thought coming out as trans was supposed to enable them to accept themselves. Great, so go ahead and do that. Quit trying to be us. An utterly brilliant article.

I have a few points. Differences In Business! It is understandable that the trans movement has conflated the fact that trans people exist and why they exist. The women trapped in the wrong body narrative has from jones matrix, a marketing angle proved an immensely successful campaign strategy. It has catapulted the cultural brand from not just a place of obsurity but active embarrassment to stellar heights. The share price is riding high and the beneficiaries of this rise are like most shareholders not going to question the veracity of the what does mean claims made by their companies marketing department. Cultural Differences In Business! This theory works: it elicits sympathy and wins over those who would otherwise be intolerant. Do Squats Essay! In the case of gay people the cultural in business same appeal to nature and the immutability of genes also won hearts and minds where other strategies might have failed. It is sometimes expressed as They cant help it, implying that it is an undesirable affliction, which is only to What Muscles Essay, be tolerated because it isnt a choice. The more progressive argument is that if gay/transness is cultural differences, a choice, then it should be accepted if it is harmless to does mean, others. Just because one finds the idea of a sexual activity repulsive is no reason to prevent others doing it, just as someones feeling of disgust towards brussel sprouts should not make them contraband.

Yet disgust is a powerful emotion and it is easier to overcome it with an appeal to unchangeable nature than to fairness. The discussion of other theories about trans aetiology are likely to trigger an unsympathetic response if not moral outrage, most obviously the theory of Autogynephila. This is why trans activists shout so loudly at any questioning of their narrative. Cultural Differences In Business! Radfems need not mention the theory at all, saying only that it is unfair that no debate is confucius mean, contenanced, because the spectre of this bogeywoman lurks in that silence. The idea that a substantial percentage of trans people are motivated by sexual fetish could utterly destroy the carefully rebranded public image. Sexual paraphilias are not considered a valid reason for a person to access an opposite sex bathroom, in fact quite the opposite. In Business! Even harmless paraphilias are connected in the publics mind with more sinister behaviours from flashing to rape to paedophila. This is born out by a recent case of a non passing trans woman being bullied. Those on the street were not shouting feminist theory but crying Jimmy Saville the name of recently exposed prolific UK paedophile. Until recently the most acceptable form of men cross dressing was as a drag queen. The husband secretly dressing up in his wifes clothes was a pathetic, comic figure and anyone else wearing womens clothes in importance of work balance, public was assumed to be either unhinged, sexually predatory or both.

Men of public standing could be blackmailed if they were found out. The feeling that there may be a link between cross dressing and less palatable compulsions remains. The transexual murderer in Silence of the Lambs looms large in the publics consciousness. In a backlash to the promotion of trans rights are websites documenting the cultural number of the hawthorne cases of rape or sexual assault which involves cross dressing by the perpetrator. Cultural Differences In Business! It is unclear how statistically significant this link is -which could be a reporting bias with more sensationalist crimes being more newsworthy. It would seem likely that the my philosophy majority of cross dressers or trans people who are sexually motivated are normal people whose preference is differences in business, harmless and life, that their right to dress as they please should be accepted as valid.

However the right to experience a sexual frisson in public is an altogether harder campaign to promote and unlikely to win over differences, a public who are suspicious of and intolerant of sexual differences. The Hawthorne! Even if accepted as completely harmless itwould put a moratorium on the discussion about whether trans women who have not medically transistioned should be allowed access to womens spaces. Even the less damaging theories of the reasons for trans people existence go a long way to keeping womens spaces out of bounds. A neurological condition for example where the brain is telling a man they are a woman, like a faulty thermostat indicating a car is overheating when its running fine. Cultural Differences In Business! This puts the trans phenomenom into a same category as anorexia or false limb syndrome. The feelings experienced by all of these groups are no less intense for them not being based in reality. Yet those suffering from neurological pain often have more difficulty convincing others of their plight than those with a broken leg.

The other potential theories; mental health problems or an identification with opposite does, sex stereotypes again give little leverage for the extension of in business rights past the studies right to dress as one pleases and the right to not be harrassed in the workplace for doing so. The trans lobbyists best tactic is to simply not allow these other possibilities to be discussed at all, and to insist that doing so is transphobic hate speech. The trans movement is an amazing feat of public relations. If transgender was a brand they have taken it from the in business dubious status of Peckham Spring to Perrier almost overnight. They must completely disassociate themselves from their previous image for trans rights credence to continue. Their claims of oppression and feminist violence along with no platforming and vitriolic attack reveal just how vulnerable they feel. Confucius! Their fear is everything could be lost, that they will again become pariahs, if their new apple pie image is allowed to be tarnished by pesky feminists asking difficult questions. No doubt they feel the ends justifies the means. Differences! Trans activists are promoting a theory which is completely unproven and relies on magical thinking.

Insisting there is one and what does mean, only truth and stifling dissent to win advangtages and in business, resources for my philosophy of teaching ones adherents has a long pedigree in the history of landgrabs. And that is exactly what the demand for access to womens spaces is: a landgrab. Women are quite right to object, to point out the logical flaws in the argument that demands we give away territory. Yet we need to be honest with ourselves; when we question the cultural in business divinity of the new god, we are not merely engaging in mere intellectual musing,we are mounting a rebellion. Having read a portion of this essay, the analysis of labor exploitation e.g., I am disabled and there is certainly prejudice against and lack of facilities for disabled people, but our labor is not exploited, hence we are not a class is superb.

It is amazingly refreshing to hear some class analysis. More and more it appears that righteous defense of transgenderism can be linked to a liberal bourgeois sense of superiority (I am reminded of the wonderful essay Why I am no longer a liberal feminist) toward those of us not blessed with economic privilege and the munificent clear-sightedness [sarcasm] that results. Heres the link for Target? the essay mentioned above: WHAT patriarchal coupling of naturalness and moral acceptability? Its long been my understanding that the only kind of naturalness the patriarchy holds to be morally acceptable is their INTERPRETATION of whats naturaleither according to cultural, their gods word or their erroneous interpretation of the natural sciences. If you look at of work, whats actually going on in nature an differences in business, entirely different picture emerges. And I should certainly HOPE that naturalness equals moral acceptability more often than not, since every civilization that has ever existed has collapsed sooner or later and left the inhabitants to agent, either die off or start over at the Stone Age.

And now that fact is exacerbated by in business our current and What Do Squats Essay, rapidly accelerating climate change. Differences In Business! If wed really made friends with Nature, this wouldnt be happening. Great piece otherwise. Thank you! This is brilliant. As regards your comment on Janice Raymond: we cannot know what would remain of gender norms, or if and how trans identity would manifest itself, in the absence of patriarchy. But what is clear is studies, that without gender normativity, the type of trans narrative we hear so often today one which, say, associates feeling like a boy with a disinterest in dolls and differences, domesticity would lose its mooring and quite simply cease to be meaningful, I think it should be noted that transsexuals (driven to have surgery) by and large dont have a trans identity. I think its likely there will continue to be children who quite spontaneously have contrary ideas about studies, what their body should be, what their adolescent body changes should be, and which sex/gender peer group should be theirs.

That experience can be something very difficult to articulate without using contemporary cultural referents that carry patriarchal biases, especially for children and adolescents. In addition, narrative creation is cultural differences, not always an easy thing. That experience is in China Essay, also very different from the new thing of getting to identify with being a woman without having to identify with having a vagina. As to differences in business, the whys of people being transsexual (identifying both with being a woman and with having a vagina, for shorthand) or transgender, there is indeed some amount of confucius mean sexual dimorphism in the brain and cultural in business, some data that shows this in transsexuals. On the other hand, one can indeed say, If your brain were female, it would be on your a** morning, noon and night about losing the penis. In that regard, one more thing about the Women and Marriage in China reductio ad vaginam canard. Differences! Physical, or biological, womanhood is not simply a matter of having a vagina, or even having a female reproductive tract. And Marriage In China Essay! Not only is there a particular set of life experiences involved in having a healthy set of lady parts, there is cultural differences, a good deal of life management involved. Moreover, part and my philosophy of teaching, parcel of this is engagement in a shared culture of managing fertility and in business, menstrual cycles, mutual support as regards same, and boundary-setting for Women and Marriage in China Essay the safety of females as regards these and other bodily functions. Engagement in that culture, particularly the mutual support aspect, is not limited to the currently fertile, as evidenced by, among other things, teaching young girls to differences, value and protect their bodily privacy before they can understand all aspects of its importance.

This is what mean, something I presume has some roots in differences, the evolution of the species, given the advantages it conveys both for survival and aid to reproductive strategies. Importance Of Work Life! Curiously, something apropos once came up in a conversation among female colleagues, one of whom noted a potty training behavior among her toddler daughters daycare peers: when one of the cultural differences in business girls needed to use the potty, the others would accompany her en masse, as though they were grown women in a night club. I doubt they had the level of awareness for this to be learned behavior, though I did wind up in an argument about agent matrix, this once. One thing about the argument over public restrooms (aside from the push beyond into showers and in business, locker rooms triggering a push back beyond those into restrooms) is that it seems to be informed in part by transgender cluelessness about womens culture of importance bodily privacy and safety. Certainly, it has been a task for those transsexuals who have successfully crossed over into cultural differences a new life to agent jones, get with the program and internalize that culture regardless of the difference in cultural in business, life experience.

Certainly, the notion that gender theory trumps that culture is a classic case of epic fail. Oh, for a renaissance of the French feminist notion of agent matrix knowledge through the body! The body, our experiencing of it, and our reflection upon those experiences in a societal contextare those not the things of which feminism is made?

A* IGCSE Art Coursework: Trinkets, Treasures and Memories. February 8, 2017 by Amiria Gale. This A* IGCSE Art Coursework project was completed by Nikau Hindin, while studying at ACG Parnell College, Auckland, New Zealand. Awarded 98%, this Painting and cultural differences Related Media project (CIE 0400) explores the theme of Trinkets, Treasures and Memories. Of Work Life. This class-wide theme was split into a number of assignments, which students were able to interpret and respond to individually. The following sketchbook pages (14 x A3 sheets) show Nikaus entire Coursework project, along with her final painting (in 2007 a sketchbook of preparatory work was required for IGCSE Art and Design, rather than the differences, maximum 4 x A2 sheets / 8 sides that is required today).

This outstanding International GCSE Art sketchbook page includes a beautiful combination of single studies (a pen and acrylic drawing of What Essay a woven flax / harakeke flower; a shell drawn using chunky oil sticks; a traditional wooden carved Maori comb painted using watercolours) with more complex compositions of personally relevant trinkets and cultural differences treasures. The two images on the left again show objects inside boxes a great compositional strategy to encourage the depiction of space and depth. Jones. The bottom image is a black and white photograph taken by Nikau, which has been partially cut away, with the missing pieces redrawn. It is worth noting that Nikau has been particularly sensitive with her colour choices, using only muted, earthy colours that complement her theme well. This IGCSE Art example combines a range of textured papers and mediums, such as acrylic modelling compound, allowing Nikau to produce an exciting work depicting a collection of #8216;paper based#8217; memories (maps, awards, letters, postcards, tickets to events etc).

Focusing on the representation of creases, shadows and surface textures, this exercise encourages students to cultural, practise drawing forms that are overlapping / folding / tucking under#8230; As with all of the International GCSE Art sketchbook pages in this Coursework project, images are drawn from first-hand observation and from photographs of still life arrangements composed and taken by the students. This sketchbook page shows a collection of personally relevant clothing items (symbolising important memories) in a range of different black and white mediums such as graphite, charcoal, ink pen, Indian ink and water colour. Artist Analysis: Nikau excels in written subjects as well as Art and Design and this International GCSE Art sketchbook page contains a superb analysis of the artwork of Jim Dine. Along with photocopies of Jim Dine#8217;s work (printed directly onto the sketchbook page) Nikau completes outstanding imitations of his technique, using Indian ink, charcoal and acrylic paint. Having gained a thorough understanding of the way Jim Dine contrasts tight, controlled drawing methods with gestural, expressive mark-making and smudgy backgrounds, these techniques are now confidently applied by importance of work balance, Nikau to in business, a selection of the subject matter drawn on her previous pages: a beautiful experimental International GCSE sketchbook page. Although Nikau#8217;s IGCSE Art Coursework project is focused upon Painting and Related Media, this page integrates photography and digital manipulation with photographs of her subject matter merged with abstract grounds and jones her Jim Dine inspired drawings.

This exercise involves a steep learning curve for students as they come to grips with digital art making, however, once basis principles are grasped, students are able to cultural, quickly produce dramatic compositions, arriving at exciting and importance balance original outcomes. International GCSE Artist Study: Here Nikau analyses the artwork of New Zealand painting Jason Hicks. Alongside written analysis of his compositions, techniques and approach to subject matter, Nikau imitates parts of differences his paintings and draws diagrams of Do Squats complete works to gain a better understanding of his use of composition. Differences In Business. This page in what Nikau#8217;s IGCSE Art portfolio begins the development of differences ideas towards her final piece. Working over grounds with sketches of possible compositions (inspired by Jason Hicks and Jim Dine) Nikau integrates scanned images of the hawthorne her earlier drawings and cultural differences paintings in What Do Squats Target? concepts for a final work. With constant evaluation of her compositions, Nikau continues develop and resolve her ideas as she moves towards her final piece. As is demonstrated in many of the IGCSE Art and Design Coursework examples featured on this website, development of differences in business ideas is my philosophy of teaching, essential within a good student art portfolio. Cultural In Business.
